Execution

I just underwent the Big “C”. That’s ‘c’ as in ‘colonoscopy’. Big for me at least, as that is the ‘most’ severe medical tests I have ever had.

I am amazed how quickly they knocked me out & had the test. 20 minutes later it was over. I had to be TOLD it was over.

That anathesia hit me so quick & hard I don ‘t even remember going out. When I came to, I couldn’t believe it was over.

Which makes me wonder. WHY can’t the boys in Oklahoma and Ohio get things right? In Oklahoma of all places – what an affront to every good old varmint huntin’ Okie that know when a person needs a a good killin’ – that they muffed an execution? What’s so difficult about knocking a condemned man out and then ‘ doing the procedure’ – in their case it would be execution – while they’re out? It shouldn’t be any more painful than my colonoscopy was. They’d never feel a thing – and, more importantly, never wake again to say, ‘is it over?’

Convicted Rapist Freed

Another court decision I don’t get… WHY is this convicted rapist allowed to see the light of day? Sentenced to only 16 years for forty assaults? That’s 2,5 years per rape. He should get life in prison for each assault. Somebody has made a great mistake here.

Time to Play ‘Arn’t You Glad Your Not That Person’

I hope it’s true that I’m too wise to ever be smug. To be smug is to be proud and foolish. I know only too well not to boast of tomorrow for I know not what a day may bring forth.

But with that said, there are some days I sit in my modest home, maybe in the back yard next to the pool – a house that is in sore need of repair, a house on a non descript street in a hick town in the San Joaquin Valley, feeling safe and secure because I am not that person I just read about.

I never feel that way about someone who has had misfortune, like the victims of the Boston bombing – left crippled, or a parent of an afflicted child – in cases like that, I think we all feel the loss, and we become one together in the pathos of the fortunes and misfortunes of life.

But today, Donald Sterling was banned from the NBA – because of his arrogance and selfish stupidity. Just like Bernie Madoff who bilked hundreds if not thousands of people out of their life’s savings, he got what he deserved.

So today, I think, no matter how much money he has, one thing he can’t buy is happiness, and for his own foolishness, he must be the most miserable man in the world.

It’s time to play, ‘Arn’t you glad you’re not that person’.

Festerin’ Folklore

Boy oh boy. It must be the team that says “the account of the garden of Eden must be a farce because apples don ‘t grow in Mesopotamia” is at it again. For the rest of us, we know there’s no mention of an ‘apple’ in the 3rd chapter of Genesis – or the rest of Genesis for that matter; for a bit of trivia, ‘apple’ is mentioned eight times in the Bible – the first three references is talking about the ‘eyeball’. The first actual reference to ‘apple’ as in fruit, doesn’t take place until Song of Solomon.

As for this bit of papyrus (aka “The Gospel of Jesus’ Wife” allegedly written in the 4th Century, let me remind you that 4th is the 300’s, the same century as the infamous Council of Niacia – that council with the Emperor Constantine’s stamp of approval on it. Yes, I know most denominal Christians have bought into that bill of goods – it hadn’t ‘t occurred to them that they’d have nothing to do with it if Constantine was Barak Obama or worse, George W. Bush spawning a Christianized ‘yellow cake from Nigeria’ tale two hundred years after the last Apostle died. That’s a long time for folklore to fester.

Why this papyrus thing even makes any news at all is beyond me. But then again, it just goes to show how stupid and gullible the masses are. I forget. The masses think Constantine was a ‘good’ guy.

The Shakespearian Drama of Oscar Pistorius

The trial of Oscar Pistorius is almost too much to bear. I don’t know if he killed Reeva Steenkamp with intent or not. If he did it intentionally, did he think all that he would have to go through afterwards would be worth it?

That’s just a footnote, really. The facts remain, whether he acted with intent or not, he killed her and he ought to own up to it. Yes, worst cast scenario, she ran and hid for her life in the bathroom and with a smirk on his face he blasted her into eternity. Best case scenario, he acted like a dumbbell and pulled the trigger four times without thinking. Grossest of negligence.

He should admit to having no defense. If he did it without intent, he can simply say “whether or not you choose to believe I did it without intent, I still did it, and regardless of the verdict and the punishment of this court I will pay for the death of Reeva with my life, the rest of my life. I hereby tender my life and submit myself to the will of the court.”

A life for a life. I don’t propose that all deaths be thus atoned by the person who caused the injury. But in a case of negligence beyond comprehension like this, he needs to pony up. For the rest of his life.

Teen Abduction Leaves Me Scratching My Head

I just don’t get it. Did the Anderson family not have a clue that “Uncle” Jim was infatuated with Hanna? Little is said about a purported trip the TWO of them took to Hollywood – staying in the same ROOM at a hotel or motel – HELLO? A 40 year old man and a 16 year old girl who told her friend she felt “creepy” around him? Did her parents give her permission to take this trip? Even if he was a ‘real’ uncle and not just a close family friend, it’s just not right for that sort of sleeping arrangement. Is this common? Is it legal? It’s deplorable.

Something is screwball here.

Buzz Fly Bothers Me

The buzz from North Korea is getting more and more bothersome. The recent report that they have the ability to put a nuclear warhead on a ballistic missile may be just Iraqian demonizing – George Bush style – but this kid isn’t a Saddam Hussein. After the videos depicting the dream of a missile attack and our president in an inferno (he IS our president like it or not) I have found myself with my own dream. A world free from this buzz fly. And I know I’m not alone. If they’d just quit buzzing in our faces, I wouldn’t bother getting up to get the fly swatter. But what a nuscence; for all the trouble North Korea has caused they don’t deserve to even exist.

So let’s talk about the fly swatter. I say carve up this belligerent bad haircut quack – toss China and Russia a bone & be done with it.

An Unlucky Lottery

One group after another are reneging on the reward money (read) because the ‘fine print’ says ‘for arrest and conviction’.

For crying out loud. The bottom line is the nightmare is over; everyone ought to just be glad and give these people their due. They were the unlucky people who Chris Dorner came in contact with; sort of like an unlucky lottery, if you please.

Kudos to the city of Los Angeles and Mayor Villarigosa for guaranteeing the reward regardless.

The W Word

Woke up this morning & checked the news – the top story – a congressman from Alaska – reminiscing of his days in Central California – (God help us!) used the W word! I mean, TOP news!

Guess that means there’s really no news to read –

Marriage, Lesaige & Gayaige?

Marriage is the unique union of a man and a woman; bride and groom, husband and wife; he and she; designed for procreation (whether or not they procreate) as it has been – since time immemorial.

It is not true that there is no fundamental difference between same sex and heterosexual relationships.

If people of the same sex wish to have a union similar to marriage that affords the same legal benefits, shouldn’t there be a name that is unique to their union? How about ‘Lesaige’ for lesbians and ‘Gayaige’ for men? I don’t know – they need to call it what they want – but not marriage – that’s taken!
